A Nonchurchgoer's Guide to Jesus and His Kingdom

A Period of Reflection

Posted in Uncategorized by Mike Gantt on March 13, 2012

Beginning  a couple of days ago, and for the next month and a half, I’m going back over all the main posts on the blog – publishing the link to each of them rather than repeating all the text in a new post.  For example, there are over twenty different posts referenced on the Introduction/Overview page.  Each day I will be pointing to one of those (that’s where today’s and the previous two days come from).  During this period, I’ll also be including other key posts from the home page.  My purpose is to reinforce the main themes of the blog which are conveyed in those original and key posts.  Of course, each and every day I’ve been trying to reinforce those themes in whatever I write, but this 40 or so days is an extra and special measure of reinforcement.

It’s also an opportunity for me to reinforce what I’ve written to my own mind and heart.  Everything I write applies to me as much as it does to anyone else.  I read the blog post every day.  I don’t ever want to lose sight of what is most important.  I want to be sure I’m keeping in mind the most fundamental of truths.  That’s why the next few weeks will be thoroughly repetitious.

Lastly, here’s an important reminder:  I am not wanting to be a teacher of people.  Rather, I am a proclaimer of the Lord Jesus Christ so that He can be the teacher of us all.  If you go to Him every day instead of my blog, I will have succeeded.

I Wrote a Book and Posted It Online: “The Biblical Case for Everyone Going to Heaven”

Posted in Uncategorized by Mike Gantt on August 1, 2010

For those of you who would like to know why I believe the Bible teaches that Everyone Is Going to Heaven , I have written a book and posted it online.  The title of the book is The Biblical Case for Everyone Going to Heaven.  As with everything I write on my blogs, there is no charge, nothing to sign up for, and I make no claim of copyright on anything I have written.  I am freely giving to you what has been freely given to me: the knowledge that God is willing to share with human beings through the Scriptures.

The book consists of over 50,000 words spread over 12 chapters.  Over 200 passages of Scripture comprising over 400 verses are woven throughout the text.  While this may sound intimidating, I wrote it in the same down-to-earth, straightforward style in which you see me writing this blog.  I only mention the numbers to convey that this book is a comprehensive explanation of the Bible’s teaching on what happens to us when we die.  I owe this much to people who trust the Bible but who have never heard this good news declared to them before.

Because the book is posted to a blog, you will be able to add comments or questions to any individual chapter.  Here’s the link to the book:  The Biblical Case for Everyone Going to Heaven.

Altering the Title of This Blog

Posted in Uncategorized by Mike Gantt on March 29, 2010

Up until now this blog has been titled “Blog for the Lord Jesus.”  Today I’m revising the name to “A Nonchurchgoer’s Guide to Jesus.”  This doesn’t indicate any change in content or purpose.  It just seemed a more descriptive and suitable title.

(The URL will remain the same because that is simply the way that WordPress blogs work.  That is, the title can change but the URL remains the same.)

P.S. In July 2010 I added the words “and His Kingdom” to the title because it seemed a more effective way to make the point.  Drawing attention to Jesus does no good unless the attention results in His being obeyed.  He did not die on the cross to be a mere figurehead.
